Hello!!   We are Jack & Laurie, owners of the Herndon and Vienna Great Harvests.  We opened the Herndon bakery back in 1990, and the Vienna bread shop 3 years later. 

What brought us to Great Harvest?   A friend in the mid-West told us about this great, fresh stone-ground bread he used to drive hundreds of miles to get, so we headed for the closest Great Harvest, in Lexington, Kentucky, and the rest is history! 

Back then (1989) there were only 33 other stores in the Great Harvest System.   It was a pretty exciting time!   We loved the bread, the whole wheat, the milling, the feeling of being close to the earth, the simplicity, creativity, and freedom.   These were all part of founders, Pete and Laura’s, philosophy, and what made it exciting was that they were committed to the idea of a "learning community"—so, early on, Pete got us all hooked up on the Internet and let the wildfire of new ideas spread —and it continues to this day!

It is a great feeling to sell something you are proud of.   We love that Great Harvest bread is BOTH delicious and wholesome.   We love that Great Harvest is a place where people can  have fun, be generous, and be themselves. And finally, it sure helps that the people of Great Harvest, both in our store, and out in the system, AND our customers....are so much fun!!
